LEWISTON - Wa-Hi's boys basketball team fell short in its opening game, falling on the road to Lewiston 64-56 after second-half charge by the home team proved too much for the Blue Devils.

"Our turnovers caught up to us in the second half," said Wa-Hi head coach John Golden. "We led early, but then we just let it slip away in the second half."

Twelve missed three point attempts plagued the Blue Devils as their outside shooting troubled the team.

"We knew they were going to be physical inside, but that put the pressure on us to score from the perimeter and the shots just weren't dropping," Golden said. "It's just an issue of us needing to get better and execute better."

Up next for Wa-Hi is its first home contest against Pasco Friday.

"We'll be watching film and showing the guys what they need to do to make Friday a better night for us," Golden said. "We need to find the ways to work on what we need to to to improve and make us perform like the kind of team that we know we have."
