Alice I. Greethurst, 95, of Walla Walla, Washington, passed away on November 28, 2010. Alice was born January 3, 1915, in Stewartville, Minnesota to Otis and Ola (Graham)
Hammer. She has lived in the Walla Walla valley since 1947, moving here from Bellevue, Washington. Alice graduated from Rochester High School in Rochester, Minnesota in 1932. She went on to graduate from Rochester Jr. College in 1934 and obtained a B.S. degree from the University
of Minnesota in 1936.

Alice married Reid E. Greethurst in Seattle, Washington in April of 1944. After moving to Walla Walla she worked at the Corps of Engineers for four years, then became a full time homemaker in 1951. Alice enjoyed swimming, hiking, back- packing, fishing, bowling and sewing. She was a member of the Walla Walla Bowling Association, a lifetime member of Girl Scouts of America, Blue Mountain Audubon Society, Pioneer United Methodist Church, Salvation Army's Dress-A-Living Doll, Nature Conservancy, National Parks and the YWCA.
She is survived by one daughter, Gwen Greethurst of Walla Walla; one son, Tom and his wife Cathy Greethurst of Enterprise, Oregon; two grandchildren, David and his wife Angela, and Corynn; and one great grandchild, Jayna. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, two brothers and three sisters.

There will be a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on December 11, 2010 at the Pioneer United Methodist Church at 290 E. Birch Street, with Pastors Chuck Hindman and Jim Graham officiating. Private inurnment will be at Mountain View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pioneer United Methodist Church, the Salvation Army's Dress-A-Living Doll, or the Mid-Columbia Girl Scout Council, through Mountain View- Colonial DeWitt, 1551 Dalles Military Road, Walla Walla, WA 99362.
