COLLEGE BASKETBALL - 'Cats rally past Whit men in 2nd half

McMINNVILLE, Ore. - Linfeld came back from a 30-29 halftime deficit to outscore Whitman 43-32 in the second half and the Wildcats came away with a 72-62 win in the Northwest Conference opener for both teams.

Sergio Rosario, who led the Wildcats with 24 points, hit a jumper with 12:24 left to give Linfield a 47-45 lead and the Wildcats led the rest of the way to pull out the win.

Brandon Shaw led Whitman with 24.

Three Missionaries, Peter Clark, Drew Raher, and Ryan Gilkey, each had nine, but Whitman only shot 21-of-66, 31.8 percent, from the field including a 7-of-34 from behind the arc, and only 13-of-26 free throws, for the game.

Rosario led the Wildcats with 24 points and KC Wiser added a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
