WALLA WALLA - A new joint agency will be the topic of a meeting Monday. Walla Walla City Council and Walla Walla County commission meet at 4:15 p.m. at the county Public Health and Legislative Building, 314 W. Main St.
Council members and commissioners will hear a progress report on the Walla Walla Joint Community Development Agency.
Approved by both bodies earlier this year, the new agency will merge the city and county planning departments into a single entity. The agency will be under the direction of a three-member board of directors consisting of one representative appointed by the City Council, one appointed by the county and the third jointly appointed by both entities.
Board members Bill Clemens, City Council member Jim Barrow and County Commissioner Greg Tompkins, have been meeting to establish the agency to have it operational by the first of next year.
Tom Glover, director of the county's Community Development Department, has been offered a contract to become the joint agency's executive director.
