PREP BASKETBALL — Imbler girls defeat Helix 38-13

HELIX - Demetri Thompson scored 11 points to lead defending Oregon Class 1A state champion Imbler to a 38-13 victory over Helix in girls high school basketball action here Saturday night.

Both teams struggled in the opening half. The visitors led 7-1 after one quarter and 14-3 at halftime.

"We had some pretty good shots and they did too," Helix coach Dean Fouquette said. "They just made more. They were bigger, stronger and faster - very talented."

Claire Ely led the Grizzlies with five points.

Helix plays at Touchet on Tuesday.
