ASOTIN - Walla Walla Valley Academy's boys basketball team suffered its first loss of the season Tuesday, falling on the road 67-49 to Asotin.

A big offensive night from junior forward Daniel Lomland, who hit 11 field goals and a trio of three-pointers to notch a game high 26 points, wasn't enough to give the Knights (1-1) a victory in large part due to 25 turnovers.

"Daniel played really well, and we started strong," said WWVA assistant coach Paul Starkebaum. "They just kind of wore us down, and our guys got tired."

The Knights only had seven players available for the game, which played into the hands of Asotin's up-tempo style, which topped 15 points in each quarter.

"They ran off our turnovers," Starkebaum said. "We have to cut down on turnovers and handle the ball better or we will be in trouble."

WWVA won't have much time to work on improving though. The Knights are back on the court Thursday in the Umatilla Tournament against Riverside at 4:30 p.m.
