WALLULA -- A wayward rock caused two semi-trucks to crash west of Wallula junction Sunday night.

According to the Washington State Police, the accident happened at 7:40 p.m. on Highway 730, about one mile from the Washington-Oregon state line when an eastbound semi-truck driven by Edward Klein, 63, Kennewick, struck a large rock that had tumbled off a hillside into the roadway.

After hitting the rock, the truck went off the eastbound shoulder and struck a wall. The impact tore an axle off the truck's trailer, which landed in the westbound lane. A westbound semi-truck driven by Darrel England, 32, of Stevenson, Wash., then stuck the axle.

Police said Klein suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene. England was not injured.
