Foster Thompson died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010, at Providence St. Mary Medical Center at the age of 80.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the chapel of Herring Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder St.
Foster was born in Arkansas to Marvin and Lola Thompson and came to the Northwest at an early age. He attended local grade schools and graduated from DeSales Catholic High School. He later served in the Army in the Korean War. After returning to Walla Walla he married Marjorie Roloff; they had one daughter, Carol Lee.
He worked for the government in different areas of the Pacific Northwest, retiring from Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, then later he moved back to Walla Walla.
He is survived by daughter Carol of Spokane; three stepbrothers, David, Larry and Daniel Thompson; stepson Greg and a brother Bruce preceded him in death.
He was a big man with a big heart and will be remembered by many for his generosity and helpful ways.
