Walla Walla's new wine store will be the first to show off the wines of Ginevra Casa Smith.
A tasting of the Italian winemaker's "Secco Italian Bubbles" on Wednesday is billed as a "Rome meets Walla Walla" event.
The tasting runs 5-7 p.m. at Catie McIntyre Walker's Wild Walla Walla Wine Woman shop, 19 N. Second Ave.
Ginevra Casa Smith will pour her Prosecco-style bubbles in both blanco and ros. For those who haven't made her acquaintance yet, Wednesday's tasting will be an opportunity to learn about the journey Ginevra and her sister, Olivia, made from Rome to the United States about six years ago. Ginevra, a sommelier, began her career in the wine industry working as an Italian wine specialist for a Colorado distribution company, according to information on the Secco Italian Bubbles website. With her sister's expertise in business, public relations, graphic design and more, the pair set out to make their own blends. Ginevra, by the way, is also the wife of Walla Walla winemaker Charles Smith.
The cost is $5 per person. For more information on Wednesday's tasting, call 529-0503.
