Pomeroy School District Board members are Paul Ruark, Lori Slaybaugh, Steve Carlson, Bart Gingerich and Ed Sullivan. With all present Monday the board:

  • LEVY: Discussed seeking a $661,076 one-year levy in February. Estimated cost per $1,000 assessed valuation would be $2.78. The board will consider a resolution to place the levy on the Feb. 8 special election ballot. "I have to applaud the school board because they have put a lot of thought into it," Superintendent Kim Spacek said Friday. The levy amount is more than the previous levy, but the levy rate is the same.

  • FACILITIES: Learned there may be no money in state matching capital funds for projects. However, the district will push ahead with the Junior-Senior High School modernization, because Spacek said he learned projects that are shovel ready July 1 are likely to receive funding.

  • ENROLLMENT/STAFFING: Learned enrollment is up by four students over the beginning enrollment. Enrollment is now 309 full time equivalent. The budget is based on 295 FTE.

  • NEXT MEETING: Will meet Wednesday, with a work session at 6 p.m. to discuss the modernization project.
