Little Goose Dam crossing closed

STARBUCK -- The vehicle crossing at Little Goose Dam has been closed for installation of fish-sensing equipment by divers.

The crossing is slated to reopen Jan. 3, according to a release from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which operates the dam.

The crossing at Lower Granite Dam will remain open. Traffic crossings are allowed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., except on Christmas and New Year's Day. Tour and school buses must call the dam at 509-843-1493 at least 24 hours in advance for crossing authorization. The dam will be closed Dec. 25 Jan. 1.

Lower Monumental Dam remains will be closed to traffic through March 13 for lock maintenance and repair projects, including the replacement of the downstream lock gate and removal and replacement of a section of concrete on the north wall of the lock.

Information on the status of dam crossings in the Walla Walla District is available at 1-888-DAM-INFO (1-888-326-4636).
