MISSION, Ore. - Nixyaawii did not waste any time getting the girls Big Sky Conference basketball season off on the right foot.

The Golden Eagles blitzed Sherman County with a 25-point first quarter to lead 25-6 after one. The Golden Eagles forced 35 Husky turnovers and coasted home with a 65-39 win.

"We emphasized that we wanted to pressure them and not foul," Golden Eagle coach Jeremy Maddern said. "We only had three fouls in the first half and our pressure led to a lot of easy baskets."

McKayla McKay led the way with 25 points.

Kristi Miller was solid all around for the Golden Eagles. Miller chipped in 17 points, dished out five assists and led the Golden Eagles with five steals.
