WALLA WALLA - The Walla Walla Joint Community Development Agency board will hold a special meeting Monday.
The board will meet at 3 p.m. at the Walla Walla County Public Health and Legislative Building, 314 W. Main St.
The meeting will be in room 213 B on the building's second floor. A regular meeting of the board will follow.
The joint agency is intended to replace the current planning departments for the city of Walla Walla and Walla Walla County with an independent entity governed by a three-member board.
One member of the board has been appointed by the county commission, the second by the City Council and the third jointly appointed by both entities.
The joint agency's hoped-for starting date is Jan. 10. County commissioners, however, voted 2-1 last week to not move forward due with that start date to concerns with the agency's budget and other matters.
The commission's action caused City Council members, who met Wednesday, to question whether the joint city-county project can continue if it is delayed. Both the city and county planning departments will close after the end of this year, leaving both without the means to process permits or handle other planning matters.
