PREP BASKETBALL - Garfield-Palouse tops Pomeroy boys 58-27

POMEROY - Pomeroy's boys basketball team lost to Garfield-Palouse 58-27 in Southeast 1B action Saturday.

Gar-Pal took a 23-18 advantage into the half but the game changed dramatically in third quarter as the Pirates were outscored 23-1.

Pomeroy shot 0-13 in third as a team.

"We came out dead in the third quarter," said Pomeroy coach Brian Koller. "We couldn't hit anything from the field and defensively, we were just lazy."

Mitch Ruchert led the Pirates with 10 points. Justin Ruark had eight.

The Pirates are 0-7 overall and 0-4 in league. They play in an alumni game Dec. 30.
