PENDLETON - It took a half for the Walla Walla Community College men's basketball team to wake up for its noon game against South Puget Sound's Clippers in the third-place game at the Blue Mountain Crossover here Sunday, but once it did the Warriors cruised to a 94-72 victory.

"We came out a little flat and didn't play well in the first half," WWCC coach Jeff Reinland said. "It's tough to play a noon game. But we came out in the second half and played a lot better."

The Warriors held a four-point halftime lead, but outscored the Clippers by 18 in the second.

Jordan Steele and Michael Crane helped spark the second-half run, with Steele scoring 14 of his 18 points, and Crane all 14 of his points, in the second 20 minutes, Reinland said.

Jason Smith led the Warriors with 21 points - all while hitting 7-of-9 from beyond the arc.

The Warriors are 6-2 heading into the holiday break.

"I feel pretty good heading into the holiday," Reinland said.

Walla Walla next heads to the Clackamas Holiday Tournament, with a game against Linn-Benton on Dec. 28.
