A new partnership between the Walla Walla Sweets and Del Taco will add a little sizzle to summer baseball.

The Mexican quick-serve chain has joined the 2011 season as an official partner. What does that mean for fans of the West Coast League team? Apart from some visibility through signage at Borleske Stadium and through advertising, a fan-focused ticket promotion is now in full swing.

The Friends and Family Four-Pack presented by Del Taco includes four tickets to a Sweets game in 2011, four Walla Walla Sweets hats and four coupons for a free Del Taco combo meal at the College Place eatery, 1725 S.E. Meadowbrook Blvd. The retail value of the package is $108, but sells for $44 and is available for purchase at the Sweets Shoppe, 109 E. Main St., through July.

"Great food and a balmy evening at the ballpark go hand in hand -- we are all excited to support each other," said Jerald Hanson, majority owner of the College Place Del Taco, in a prepared statement.

Sweets General Manager Zachary Fraser said the partnership is a fun way for friends and families to share a night out together.

Hanson introduced Del Taco to the Walla Walla Valley in 2006 after growing up with the brand in Southern California. The company operates or franchises more than 525 restaurants in 17 states.

The Walla Walla Sweets begin their second season June 3 with an opening-day game against the Corvallis Knights. For more information on tickets, call 522-BALL or visit wallawallasweets.com .
