ELGIN, Ore. - Cyle Miller scored 17 points and led Elgin to a one-sided 76-24 victory over Helix here Tuesday in a boys non-league prep basketball game.

The Huskies bolted to a 17-7 first-quarter lead, extended their advantage to 38-11 at halftime and continued to pull away after the intermission.

Kyle Ludwig added 14 points for Elgin and Blu Risseauw finished with 11. For the Grizzlies, Zack Sundin led the way with seven points, followed by Greg Papineau and Dusty Bennett with six points each and Daniel Kubishta with five.

There were only six foul shots attempted in the game, with Helix making its one opportunity and Elgin going 2-5 from the line.

"The fact is you have to play some defense in order to foul somebody," Grizzlies coach Brooke Garton said. "We just kind of let the other team shoot around in the key and do pretty much what they wanted. They got a lot of points off of easy shots in the key and putbacks."

The Grizzlies, 0-8 on the season, next play in the Helix Holiday Tournament on Tuesday. Helix is matched against Powder Valley in a 4:30 p.m. game while Waitsburg-Prescott meets Klickitat at 7:30 p.m. in the other first-round boys game.

In girls play, Helix and Powder Valley square off at 3 p.m. and W-P meets Klickitat at 6.
