Irene Marie Frank of Milton-Freewater passed away Dec. 16, 2010, at her home at the age of 78 years. At her request, no public services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Labre Indian School in care of the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main, Milton-Freewater, OR 97862.

Irene Marie Lemon Lewis Frank, was born in Weston, Wisc., to William and Viola Lemon, on Jan. 29, 1932. She went to school in Weston and in high school she was a baton twirler for her high school band.

Weston was where she met and married Roy F. Lewis Sr. Later they had five children. They were Oregon pioneers, not the first ones, but those who came to live here in the '50s to help build our state. The children prospered and had children of their own.

She married Jack Frank, on Dec. 31, 1980, expanding her family with more people who loved her. She enjoyed her new family and she and Jack founded a trucking company.

Always family oriented, Jack and Irene bought a motor home and traveled as much as they could. Every grandkid wanted to go to Grandma's to bake cookies or go on the frequent fishing and camping trips. Ask them and you will hear lots of stories about their adventures from her children and grandchildren. She loved watching NASCAR. Jeff Gordon was her hero. She collected anything and everything of his she could. So we all knew what to get mom for any occasion.

She died the way she lived: STUBBORN! She refused to give in to her illness until it became so painful for her. She had to make sure we were all right and would stay together before she could let herself go home to the Lord.

She passed away with her family by her side. She will be loved by us forever.

Irene leaves behind her husband, Jack Frank of Milton-Freewater; and her children, Diana Corey of Post Falls, Idaho, Bill Lewis and wife Joan of Walla Walla, Judy Heyberger and husband Chet of Beaverton, Ore., and Robynne Norton and husband Scott of Milton-
Freewater; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Lindgren and Nancy Cowden; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Roy F. Lewis Jr.; son-in-law, Len Corey; brothers, Kenneth and Gerald Lemon; sisters, Betty Lemon and Kathleen Schultz.
