The Marcus Whitman Hotel & Conference Center has welcomed four new members to its staff.
Bud Stocking joins the team as the new Sales Manager.
Stocking moved to the Walla Walla Valley in 1978 with his wife Paulette, where they raised their two children, Kristen and Dustin.
He has a background in sales and marketing management. He worked for KUJ radio in the 1980s and helped start KWHT radio. He then began work for a small cellular telephone company, owned by Kyle Mussman, who also owns the Marcus Whitman Hotel & Conference Center along with his wife, Brenda.
In 1999, Stocking, along with two partners, began Three Rivers Winery. It was sold in 2008, so he decided to pursue other interests. His first area of focus is in the Tri-Cities where he is building relationships and brand recognition.
Walla Walla born and raised, Jonathan Grant recently filled the position of Front Office Manager. A 1988 graduate of Walla Walla High School, he is the son of Nancy and the late Bill Grant.
Grant resided in Los Angeles since 1997 and has worked in numerous hotels including: Century Plaza Hotel, W Hotel, and Shutters on the Beach. For the past five years he has been a real estate agent for Coldwell Banker in Beverly Hills.
Grant recently returned to Walla Walla with his wife Fahima and their baby daughter, Madison.
Mike Lemke joins the management team as the Engineering Manager. Lemke graduated from Sultan High School in 1975 where he was involved with sports and FFA in high school and served as student body president.
He attended Wenatchee Valley College and played football, earning an AllNWAACC award and an athletic scholarship to Washington State University where he played offensive line alongside Cougar greats Jack Thompson and Dan Dornink, beating Nebraska in 1977 and posting a winning season that year.
Lemke moved to Walla Walla in 1996 to take an engineering position with Key Technology. He worked in Development Engineering and Production while at Key.
After a Key downsizing, he went to work at the Department of Corrections in early 2010 before joining the team at MWH.
Lemke is active in youth sports, having volunteered with Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball, Youth Football and the YMCA as a coach since coming to Walla Walla. He serves as President of Walla Walla Youth Baseball and Softball, a group of volunteers that puts on a fundraiser every year at the fairgrounds for as many as 800 guests, raising up to $70K annually in support of kids playing summer softball and baseball. He is also a member of the Wa-Hi Big Blue Boosters and president elect.
He and his wife Cindy have two sons: Michael, who attends Walla Walla Community College, and Taylor, a junior at Wa-Hi.
Sean Powell has also joined the MWH team as the IT and Security Manager in June.
During his time at the Marcus Whitman he plans on broadening his IT expertise in addition to upgrading and streamlining the hotel's IT infrastructure.
Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and raised outside of San Diego, CA., Powell moved to Portland after graduating high school. He attended Pacific University in Forest Grove, OR and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He came to Walla Walla in 2008.
Powell enjoys traveling with his girlfriend and their two dogs, playing video games, reading, and doing crossword puzzles.
