HELIX - Waitsburg-Prescott's boys basketball team got off to a strong start at the four-team Helix basketball tournament Tuesday, dropping Klickitat 77-31 to set up a title tilt against North Powder scheduled for today. But the final day of the tournament was canceled due to snow.

W-P received an all-around strong offensive night Tuesday, led by 20 points from Zach Bartlow and a swarming defensive attack.

"Our two main focuses coming into the game on the defensive end were to pressure the ball and keep them from controlling the paint because they have some big guys," said W-P head coach T.J. Scott. "We managed to pull both those goals off and forced a lot of turnovers that led to easy baskets for us."

The shots were also dropping from the ouside for W-P (4-1) as the squad dropped five 3s in the win.

"We know they have a very good team," Scott said of North Powder, which rolled past the host school in its opener. "It's gonna be a good game and a good challenge for us.
