Wa-Hi wrestlers place ninth at Pendleton Tourney

PENDLETON - Gerald Maib finished 2-1 and took second place at 285 pounds to pace the Wa-Hi grapplers at the Pendleton Tournament Thursday.

Wa-Hi placed ninth as a team with 78 points, as Mac-Hi was second at 162 and Dayton fourth at 142. Crook County won the tourney with 188 points.

"We had some great matches during the day," Wa-Hi coach Clayton Hudiburg said. "But in reality, this tournament exposed where we need to work. We need to become a different team as soon as possible. We need to stop playing the rookie card and progress to seasoned wrestlers."

Other finishers for Wa-Hi included Nason Babbitt, who was 2-1 took third at 140 pounds; Wil Babbitt, 2-2, fourth at 112 pounds; Ryan Evans, 2-2, fourth at 152 pounds; Logan Reardon, 3-1, fifth at 215 pounds and Anthony Stalder 2-2, sixth at 145 pounds.
