Pomeroy School District Board members are Paul Ruark, Lori Slaybaugh, Steve Carlson, Bart Gingerich, and Ed Sullivan. With all present Jan. 25 the board:
BOND: Discussed board involvement prior to the Feb. 9 election. Board members will contact citizens, and are available to answer questions and conducting tours. The district is asking voters to approve a $4.5 million bond measure for modernization of the Pomeroy Junior/Senior High School. If the bond is approved, $4.9 million in state matching funds is available.
FACILITIES: Discussed rental of space to Garfield County and signed lease to rent two unoccupied classrooms to the county while the courthouse is being remodeled. Also discussed student safety related to the offices being in the building.
ENROLLMENT: Learned enrollment is steady at 322 full time equivalent students.
TASK FORCE: Discussed community task force and what the group is planning regarding the impact of the wind tower installations on the community.
DATES: Set Feb. 10 and 25 as dates for board meetings.
HALL OF FAME: Learned junior high wrestling coach Brian Slaybaugh and his wife Lori have been named to the John Gates Wall of Fame.
