Former state Rep. Dave Mastin has joined Buckley Investment Group.
In his new role for the downtown Walla Walla wealth management firm, Mastin will focus on investment solutions for individuals, businesses and foundations, according to an announcement this morning.
John Buckley, managing partner of the firm, said Mastin's "talents and experiences will be a very valuable addition to our firm." Buckley Investment Group is an independent investment consulting firm with a focus on the hiring and monitoring of separate account managers for each market segment of the client's portfolio.
Buckley said Mastin will juggle his responsibilities at the Poplar Street firm and his work as a lobbyist. He was recently retained by the Port of Walla Walla and the city of Walla Walla to lobby for minimizing job cuts at the Washington State Penitentiary.
Mastin served as a state representative in the Legislature for 12 years. Prior to Buckley Investment Group, he worked for D.A. Davidson. He continues to serve on the board of directors for United Way of Walla Walla County.

October may be known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but the owners of Salumiere Cesario say February also offers an occasion to help the cause.Strictly Business is a local business column. Vicki Hillhouse can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or 526-8321.
This month, Damon and Colby Burke will offer a wider selection of pink wine than typical at their gourmet Italian grocery, 20 S. Second Ave.
"We realize that it is not Breast Cancer Awareness month, but it is the month of Valentine's Day -- and what better compliment to Valentine's Day than pink wine?!" they said in a release.
A variety of still and sparkling pink wines -- including roses and proseccos, among others -- are intended to raise awareness and money for breast cancer research, they said. Ten percent of gross sales of pink wine -- and cheese -- during February will be donated to the cause.
Salumiere Cesario operates 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday (with the exception of Super Bowl Sunday this weekend). For more information, call 529-5620, or visit www.salumierecesario.com .
