BURBANK - Burbank's defense whitewashed Royal in the two middle quarters and took a 41-11 lead into the fourth quarter here Friday night en route to a 50-21 girls South Central Conference Eastern Division girls basketball victory over the Knights.

The victory kept the Coyotes undefeated in division play. They took a 9-0 East mark, 16-1 overall, into a Saturday night home game against Kiona-Benton.

As usual, Tiffany Idler and Nicole Roberts led the Burbank offense with 11 and 10 points, respectively. But it was a well-balanced Coyote attack as Briana Rivas tallied nine points and Monica Houser and Sarah Rude contributed eight points each.

Leslie Brown led the Knights with 11 points.

"Royal actually jumped out early and made us play catch-up," Burbank coach John Muchlinski said. "We were leaving girls open and they were making easy shots. In the second quarter we got the defense figured out.

"Offensively, we were able to accomplish our goal of getting the posts involved early and often," Muchlinski added. "It was a good win for us, and now we get the top teams in our half of the league."
