TOUCHET - Touchet used a 29-point second quarter to sprint to a 76-31 thrashing of visiting Tri-Cities Prep here Friday night in a Southeast B District Southern Division girls basketball game.

The lopsided victory helped Indians first-year coach Scott Pumphrey celebrate the birth of his second child.

Touchet used full court pressure to rattle the Jaguars into turnovers and easy Indian buckets.

"We full-court pressed them and in the second quarter and they couldn't handle it," said Touchet assistant coach Malissa McKeown. "We got quite a few steals and we started hitting our shots.

"Emily (Huesby) and Zoe (Weaver) just started going off," McKeown added. "Huesby hit all four of her field goals in the second quarter. Carley Frazier hit a 3 and a 2-pointer, and Weaver hit four field goals."

Weaver finished the game with 21 points for Touchet. ReAna Butler added 14 from the inside.

Johanna Roach led the Jaguars with 12 points.

McKeown will take on head coaching responsibilities Saturday at St. John-Endicott as Pumphrey spends time with his wife and new son. The baby was born Friday morning. Pumphrey coached Friday's game, but left immediately after.
