IRRIGON - Weston-McEwen forced Irrigon into 42 turnovers resulting in a mid-game 42-11 run here Friday as the TigerScots ran away from the Knights on their home court 77-36 in a Blue Mountain Conference boys basketball clash.

The TigerScots started slowly but bolted to a 20-point halftime lead thanks to a 20-2 second quarter. W-M upped its lead to 33 by the end of the third with a 22-9 quarter.

"We did not show up in the first quarter ready to play. Then we started picking it up on defense," W-M coach Brian Pickard. "The first four minutes of the third quarter was when we really stepped it up, forced turnovers and got some easy buckets."

W-M's Owen Hegdal registered his second triple-double of the season with an 11-point, 11-rebound, 11-steal night. The TigerScots' Miguel Penaloza led all scorers with 20.

"Both those guys play with so much energy and hustle," Pickard said. "Owen plays the best player on the other team on defense, and Miguel is usually one of our first guys off the bench. (Miguel) is an instant energy boost."

The TigerScots boosted their record to 12-9 overall and 9-2 in league. They entertained Pilot Rock on Saturday.
