IRRIGON, Ore. - Weston-McEwen and Irrigon took turns dominating each of the first three quarters in a see-saw battle here Friday, but a fourth-quarter draw left the TigerScots on the short end of a 41-26 score in a Blue Mountain Conferencve girls basketball game.

The Knights started the contest with a strong 12-2 first quarter, but Weston-McEwen responded with a 10-4 second period to draw within four points at halftime, 16-12. Irrigon then pushed the lead back to double digits by outscoring the TigerScots in a 12-4 third.

Trailing 28-16, Weston-McEwen was unable to replicate its second-quarter defensive effort in the fourth as Irrigon added to its lead and pulled away to the victory.

"The second quarter started with (Paula) Thompson hitting a 3, which got everyone going and excited," TigerScots coach Amber Doremus said. "We started out the second on a 10-0 run. Our defense worked together and we were finding the basket and rebounding.

"None of our shots went down in first and we weren't talking on defense. I wish I knew what happened in third. Four points, good grief."

Sydney Porter led the TigerScots with 11 points in the losing effort - nine coming from behind the arc. W-M's Morgan Entze pulled down a game-high 10 boards.

The loss dropped the W-M to 1-10 into league, and 2-19 overall.

The TigerScots hosted Pilot Rock Saturday.
