Dayton goes big to beat Pirate boys

POMEROY - Dayton used its big men in a productive first half to put Pomeroy down 17 at the break, then closed out the Pirates in the second half for a 49-36 Southeast B boys cross-divisional victory here Saturday.

Dayton post Joey Schlachter posted a 15-point, 13-rebound double-double. Post Dain Henderson added 12 more points for the Bulldogs.

Justin Ruark's 12 points paced Pomeroy.

"We moved the ball well and finished well inside," Dayton coach Roy Ramirez said.

The victory bumps Dayton's record to 6-13 overall.

Dayton (2-7 in South Division) plays 1-8 DeSales Friday to finish the regular season.

"The final game against DeSales is a big game, a real big game, "Ramirez said. "If we win, we secure the No. 4 seed and avoid traveling for the (district playoff) play-in game."
