ELGIN - Miles Thul came within one steal of recording a triple-double in Weston-McEwen's 69-51 Blue Mountain Conference boys basketball victory over Elgin here Tuesday.

This win gives the TigerScots an 11-2 conference record and a ticket to the district playoffs next week. They are 14-9 overall.

Thul popped four 3-pointers on the way to a team-high 18 points. He also dished out 10 assists for a double-double.

His nine steals, however, fell short of a triple-double.

Corban Hegdall and Dallas Reich contributed 17 and 15 points, respectively, to the TigerScots' total.

W-M's Owen Hegdall led all rebounders with 10.

Elgin's Dalton Moore led all scorers with 25 points, and he snagged a team-high eight rebounds.

The TigerScots jumped out quick for a 21-7 first-quarter lead.

That lead dwindled to six-points at halftime, 32-26, when Elgin rebounded for a 19-11 run in the second quarter.

W-M regained the momentum in the third quarter with a 21-12 surge en route to the victory.

"We jumped on them early," W-M coach Brian Pickard said. "Then we had a letdown in the second quarter.

"In the third quarter we ran off five-or-six baskets in a row off of the fast break.

"And we held on to the margin the rest of the way," he said.

W-M finished the regular season with a home game against Stanfield at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The TigerScots then open district play on Feb. 19 against Stanfield at the Pendleton Convention Center, with a 2:30 p.m. tipoff.
