In the minutes - Port of Walla Walla

Port of Walla Walla commissioners are Paul Schneidmiller, Mike Fredrickson and Ron Dunning. With Schneidmiller absent from Wednesday's meeting, the commission:

  • BURBANK CCRS: Postponed a vote on covenants, conditions and restrictions for the Burbank Business Park until Feb. 25.
  • GEN-X ENERGY CLEANUP: Discussed how to proceed with cleanup from a fire at the former Gen-X Energy biodiesel plant in Burbank. Gen-X has since relocated, and Port officials say they've been challenged to get cooperation on cleanup of equipment left behind and oil. The Port has contacted Gen-X officials to say the Port will enter the building to proceed.
  • AIRPORT SPRAYING BIDS: Awarded a contract for the spraying of weeds on Port and airport property to Smith Brothers, which submitted a low bid of $50 per hour. Unanimous.
  • OLSON FARM PROPOSALS: Awarded a contract/lease to Beechinor amp; Sons, which will farm 500 acres of Port-owned land known as the Olson farm property. The land is located just north of the main runway at the Walla Walla Regional Airport. Beechinor amp; Sons will farm with a rotation of row crops, including some alfalfa, corn and beans on 300 acres with irrigation circles. The other 200 acres will be wheat. Unanimous.
