Weston-McEwen girls finish season on winning note, 35-24, over Stanfield

ATHENA - The Weston-McEwen TigerScot girls ended the season on a winning note and took some momentum into next year with a 35-24 win over Stanfield here Friday.

The TigerScots finish at 3-11 in the Blue Mountain Conference, and 4-20 overall.

WM trailed the Tigers 7-2 after one, but rallied to cut into the lead and went to intermission down 13-11.

"We were very sluggish out of the locker room," TigerScots coach Amber Doremus said. "We slowly picked it up, especially in the third quarter."

The TigerScots held the Tigers to two points in the third, and scored 16 to take a 27-15 lead to the fourth period.

Makayla Christopher scored all of her game-high 11 points in the decisive second half to lead the way for the TigerScots.

Shelin Youncs added eight points, Morgan Entze scored six while pulling down a game-high 12 boards, and Tiffany Cain handed out seven assists.

Christopher, Youncs, Cain and Entze will all be back to form a solid nucleus for the 2010-11 TigerScots.

"Everybody contributed (tonight)," Doremus said. "(The future) looks very promising."
