ENDICOTT - Touchet placed four players in double figures and kept its boys basketball season alive here Monday afternoon with a 56-49 overtime victory over Lacrosse-Washtucna in a loser-out game at the Southeast 1B District 9 tournament.

Jake Hodnefield led the Indians with 17 points. Marshall Byerley scored 12 while Matt Kates and Kevin Ford contributed 10 points apiece.

Touchet improved its record to 12-11 and faces Colton, a 54-53 victor over Tri-Cities Prep Monday, in another elimination game at 3 p.m. on Friday at Endicott.

The Indians led 17-9 after the first quarter, but managed just 13 points in the middle two periods. Touchet led 26-25 at halftime and trailed 35-30 heading into the fourth frame.

"We got off to a great start, then we kind of relaxed," Touchet coach Tim McKeown said. "We played very flat in the third quarter."

The Indians tied the score at 45-45 in the final minute of regulation on a Kates free throw. That, coupled with an empty L-W possession in the closing seconds, sent the game into overtime.

"I told the kids it was up to them," McKeown said. "In the fourth quarter, we put a full-court man press on them. Luckily, we wound up tying the game."

Touchet controlled the opening tip of the extra stanza and got a back-door bucket from Byerley that set the tone for the remainder of the contest.

Ford tallied six of the Indians' 11 points in the overtime.

Touchet sealed the win by hitting 5-of-7 free throws in the last couple of minutes.

"It was a game that was pretty overwhelming," McKeown said. "My kids didn't want to go home (for the season). Four in double figures? That means a lot for our team.

"Kevin played real big," McKeown said. "Bo Segerman's defense was unbelievable. He got some key steals. Jake's been consistent and leading the team."
