WALLA WALLA - Whitman women's basketball guard Hilary White was named Northwest Conference Student Athlete of the Week in women's basketball.
White, a 5-foot-10 senior, averaged 22 points and eight rebounds last weekend, including a 19-point win over Pacific Lutheran and a four-point loss to second-place Puget Sound.
She scored 24 points and had nine rebounds, four assists and two steals against Pacific Lutheran. Four of nine shots were from the 3-point line and she was 9-of-17 from the floor. It was the fourth time this season she missed a double-double by one rebound.
She had 20 points and seven rebounds against Puget Sound Saturday, nailing 6-of-13 shots from the floor and hitting three 3-pointers and 5-of-5 free throws.
On Tuesday, White matched her career-high scoring with 25 points in a two-point loss to Whitworth and put her career scoring total at 953 points, moving her into 14th place on Whitman's all-time scoring list. She also pulled down eight rebounds, giving her game-high totals in both points and rebounds for the second time in three games. She needs 18 points in the Missionary's final game to take the 13th spot in scoring.
White's averaged 14.7 points per game in individual scoring. She's No. 1 in conference 3-point baskets (2.47 per game) and No. 7 in rebounding (6.7 per game).
