BURBANK - Columbia-Burbank scrambled to keep its district hopes alive with a late 48-46 victory over the Mabton Vikings here Thursday night.

The Coyotes are now 19-1.

The Vikings were ahead by five at the half, 27-22. They picked up three more in the third for an eight-point lead.

But a fourth quarter 16-6 scoring run sent Burbank ahead, with a last-second shot by senior Tiffany Idler for the win.

"(She) was not going to let her last home game be a loss," said coach John Muchlinski.

Two late 3-pointers by Briana Rivas also helped the Coyotes pull ahead, Muchlinski said.

"They really shifted momentum our way," he said.

Idler lead all players with 30 points.

Monica Houser didn't score, but made late passes to Idler for points, while Jeni Akerblade and Katie Breazeale stepped up on defense, shutting down Mabton's top scorer Melissa Gutierrez, Muchlinski said.

"We showed some great heart today," Muchlinski said. "The girls stepped up and played their hearts out."

Burbank next plays Zillah at Saturday in Finley.
