The Touchet School District would like to acknowledge our community for the strong support shown in the Feb. 9 school levy Election. Touchet has had a proud tradition of supporting its local school district's needs. The community believed it was important it continue this investment in our students' future.
We appreciate, so much, the willingness of parents, students and community members to get involved in an effort to maintain financial support for our schools. It is quite a statement that the people are willing to tax themselves in this environment.
It sends a powerful message to the Legislature that the public values public education highly and further makes the claim that strong schools build strong communities.
Our levy committee members worked really hard to inform our community. We are very, very happy with the results.
As the district superintendent and father of a Touchet graduate, I am very appreciative of the support of this community. The School Board and school staff echo their appreciation of the legacy of quality education in Touchet and we all know how important it is to maintain these standards.
Again, I personally wanted to acknowledge each and every person who worked hard and supported the levy even with the struggles out there and they were certainly mindful of that, but they knew, as a district, we are committed to working to continue to improve and strengthen educational opportunities for students in our community.
