Two women struck by vehicle in downtown Walla Walla


WALLA WALLA - Two women were taken to a local hospital today after being struck by a vehicle in downtown Walla Walla, authorities said.

The crash occurred shortly before 12 p.m. at the intersection of Rose Street and Second Avenue.

Walla Walla Police Officer Tim Bennett said the vehicle was heading east on Rose and making a left turn onto Second when it struck the pedestrians. Bennett said the driver immediately pulled over and stayed on scene. The driver's name was not available this afternoon.

Deputy Chief Brad Morris with the city's Fire Department confirmed two women, ages 56 and 59, were taken to Providence St. Mary Medical Center for treatment following the crash. Specific information on the nature and severity of their injuries was not available.
