Pedestrians hit by truck released from hospital


WALLA WALLA - The two women struck by a pickup on the corner of Second Avenue and Rose Street on Friday have been release from Providence St. Mary Medical Center.

According to police reports, Janice King, 56, of Walla Walla and Karen Terrazas, 59, of Dayton were struck by a Dodge pickup driven by Lorna Coxen, 35, of Dayton, who was making a left turn onto Second Avenue at the time. The accident occurred shortly before noon.

Walla Walla Police Officer Tim Bennett said the driver immediately pulled over and stayed on scene.

Coxen was cited for failing to yield way to a pedestrian.

Deputy Chief Brad Morris with the city's Fire Department confirmed the two women were taken to Providence St. Mary Medical Center for treatment following the accident.

Specific information on the nature and severity of their injuries was not available.
