MOSES LAKE - Kati Isham led three Walla Walla Community College players in double figures with 21 points here Saturday afternoon as the Warriors rolled to a 79-59 victory over Big Bend in an NWAACC Eastern Region women's basketball game.

The Warriors, who entered the contest No. 2 in the latest NWAACC poll and tied with Yakima Valley atop league standings, extended their winning streak to nine and improved to 12-1 in league and 23-1 overall. The overall mark is a first in the reign of coach Bobbi Hazeltine.

Nancy Johnson added 14 to the WWCC cause in 15 minutes of playing time and Layne Tucker tallied 12.

Walla Walla led by five at halftime, 33-28, despite shooting 52 percent from the floor (13-of-25) compared with 35 percent (9-of-26) for the Vikings.

"We struggled in the first half for whatever reason," Hazeltine said. "They did a good job of getting second shots. They put up a lot of 3s and we didn't contest a lot of them.

"In the second half, we did a better job," she said. "They threw pressure at us and we got some layups."

Tucker also keyed a second-half spurt with a couple of steal and layins, Hazeltine said.

All 12 players on the Warriors' roster played. All but two scored.

"We subbed a lot," Hazeltine said. "It was a chance to play everybody. All 12 played in the first half."

Hazeltine had high praise for her guards - Kati and Shelbi Isham, and Tucker.

"Kati is always really solid," Hazeltine said. "Shelbi was as good as she's been all year - really good (seven points, four rebounds, six assists, and four steals). Layne had a good game.

"Layne and Shelbi are seeing the floor and making good passes," said Hazeltine, who also complemented Johnswon and Jamie Berghammer - who scored six points and grabbled four boards in a starting role.

The Warriors close the regular season with a home game against league foe Blue Mountain at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
