Salish wins Hoops Classic

COLLEGE PLACE - Salish-Kootenai College defeated Walla Walla University, 68-48, to claim first place at the annual Walla Walla University Hoops Classic women's basketball tournament late Saturday night.

Salish was up only 30-25 at intermission, but pulled away in the second half.

The loss dropped WWU to third in the tournament, with Corban JV taking second.

Heather McFadden led the Wolves with 18 points.

Salish got 14 points each from Misty Ostlie and Shaykene Piedalue as it completed a perfect 3-0 tournament run.

Karla McLean grabbed a game-high 17 rebounds for Salish as Salish outboarded the Wolves 62-40. McFadden and Cambria Mensink led the Wolves with seven rebounds each.

McFadden, Megan Moore and Katie Wilson were named to the all-tournament team from WWU.
