WALLA WALLA - The Whitman College baseball program is hosting a free baseball coaching clinic for coaches from Little League through the high school level from 6-8 p.m. March 10 at Whitman's Sherwood Athletic Center.

The clinic covers pitching mechanics, hitting fundamentals and practice planning. There also will be a question-and-answer period.

Jared Holowaty, Whitman's first-year head coach, hosts the clinic along with his assistant coaches, Mark Michaud and Sean Kinney.

Holowaty earned all-conference and all-region honors as an outfielder at Eastern Connecticut State University, where he captained the 2002 team that won the NCAA Division III national championship team.

His previous coaching experience includes a stint as an assistant at NCAA Division I University of Maine, where he helped lead the Black Bears to an America East Conference championship and a regional tournament appearance at the University of North Carolina.

Holowaty has also had 12 players under his guidance sign professional baseball contracts.

For more information about the clinic, contact Michaud by phone, 509-522-4438, or via e-mail at michaum@whitman.edu.
