Sept. 24, 1942 - Feb. 24, 2010
Judy Gies lived from Sept. 24, 1942 until Feb. 24, 2010, and by all accounts, including her own, she lived a wonderful life.
She was raised at the foot of the Blue Mountains and it was there that she acquired her lifelong love of the outdoors, adventure, and horses. She lived in a way that made it impossible to ever question her devotion to her family, friends or her animals. However, we all knew the connection to her horse is what truly kept her grounded and gave her the strength to love the rest of us as completely as she did.
Judy is survived by her three sons and two daughters-in-law, Tony and Cindi Gies, Brian Gies and Doug and Tuesdee Gies; her sisters Pam Brophy, Kathy Cornelius; and her brother Jim Cornelius, as well as six grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and the ladies of the Blue Mountain Riders. She was co-owner of Jim's Glass in Walla Walla.
A memorial service will be held Monday, March 1, at 2 p.m. at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home with Father Tim Hays of Assumption Catholic Church in Walla Walla. Following the service there will be a celebration of life gathering at the Wagon Wheelers Club House, 380 Hussey Road. Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Mountain Riders Association through the funeral home.
