KENNEWICK - Too many, and too much, Redmons.

Mead's senior Jazmine and freshman Jade Redmon had too much quickness for Wa-Hi as the sisters led the Panthers to a 52-35 victory over the Blue Devils Friday at the Toyota Center in semifinal action at the Class 4A Eastern Regional Championships at the Toyota Center here Friday.

Wa-Hi dropped into an elimination game with Moses Lake, a 58-43 winner Friday over Southridge, and played for the final state ticket at 11 a.m Saturday.

Gonzaga University-bound Jazmine Redmon got the Panthers off to a 2-0 lead 25 seconds in.

Wa-Hi's Jill McDaniels tied it at 2-all with 6:30 left in the first quarter. It was the last tie of the game.

Jasmine Redmon capped a 10-0 Panther run with a bucket at 1:47 as the Panthers seized control with a 12-2 lead.

Maddie Jacobson buried a trey to break the Panther run, but Jade Redmon beat the first-quarter horn to give the Panthers a 14-5 edge.

"They are an athletic team," Wa-Hi coach Jill Meliah said. "They can get up and down the floor. Our inexperience showed tonight. The bright lights (of regional play) got in the way, and we got a little shell-shocked.

"Mead did a good job of coming out strong," Meliah added. "We were a little flat-footed."

The Panther quickness forced three consecutive Blue Devil turnovers and Mead scored off each one; a coast-to-coast drive with a steal by Jazmine Redmon; a Taylor Ingebritsen bucket; and Ingebritsen converted the third turnover with a trey, three of her 17 points, and Mead had a 27-13 lead with 2:38 left in the half.

Jasmine Redmon drew her second foul and left the game with 2:27 in the half. Wa-Hi took advantage to end the half on a 8-0 run.

Jamie Weisner, free of the defense of Jazmine Redmon, scored six during the run. Vicki Reardon's buzzer-beater and her seventh point of the quarter got Wa-Hi within 27-21 at the break.

"(In the) second quarter, we played a lot better defensively," Meliah said. "We exposed their weakness by getting it into our bigs (Reardon and Weisner) and getting within six."

Jade Redmon out-quicked the Blue Devil defense in the third quarter to score four points and hand out two assists. A Jazmine-to-Jade Redmon dish ran the Panther lead to 31-21 with 5:30 left in the third.

Wa-Hi, despite nine third-quarter points from Weisner, got no closer and trailed 41-27 after three.

The Redmon show continued as a Jade steal and dish to Jazmine produced a 3-pointer, and Jade followed, off a Blue Devil turnover, with a deuce and the Panthers led 48-32 with 4:55 to play.

McDaniels hit a trey with 2:22 left, the only non-Weisner points of the second half, to wrap the scoring as Mead posted the 52-35 win.

Jasmine Redmon led Mead with 19 points. The win earned the Panthers a state ticket and they played Chiawana, a 59-52 winner over Lewis and Clark Friday, Saturday for the Region's top seed.

Weisner, with 11 second-half points, led Wa-Hi with a game-high 20. Reardon had seven points to go with a team-high seven boards.

The Blue Devils headed home with less than 18 hours before the elimination battle with Moses Lake.

"We took care of business on Tuesday (a 58-54 win over Central Valley), so we have another chance," Meliah said. "If we let this (loss) fester, we aren't going (to state). If we throw it out the window right now, we have as good a chance as anybody."
