MILTON-FREEWATER -- Billie J. Whitehead, 79, of 925 Cowl St., Apt. 9, died Jan. 1, 2010, at the Evergreen Milton-Freewater Health and Rehabilitation Center, 120 Elzora St.
The memorial service will be 1 p.m. March 6 at the Grace Presbyterian Church, 703 S. Main St., Milton-Freewater.

Mrs. Whitehead was born Sept. 14, 1930, in Wheatland, Wyo., to William and Genevra Cuthberson McCallum. She grew up and attended school in Wheatland. She married Victor Snook in Wheatland in October 1948. The couple were later divorced. She then moved to Lander, Wyo. On Easter Sunday in 1961 she married Raymond "Kirk" Whitehead in Lusk, Wyo.
Mrs. Whitehead worked on various jobs in hotels and the Wyoming state Training School and helped her husband on ranches. They moved to Washington state in 1973 and then settled in Hermiston, living there until the death of her husband in June 2003. Mrs. Whitehead then moved to Milton-Freewater to be near her daughter, son and granddaughter. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading and doing puzzles of all kinds.
Mrs. Whitehead is survived by a daughter, Wanda Snook of Milton-Freewater; three sons, Roger Snook of Milton-Freewater, Duane and Steve Snook, both of Wheatland; a sister, Ethel Huntzinger of St. Helens, Ore.; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Whitehead; a sister, Doris McCallum, four brothers, John, Raymond, Kenneth and Dee McCallum; and a grandson, Dallas Snook.
