MILTON-FREEWATER -- Robert E. "Bob" Deseve, 89, of 53875 W. Crockett Road died Dec. 31, 2009, at his home.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Milton-Freewater Cemetery with Pastor Don Curtis officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice through the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main St.

Mr. Deseve was born Dec. 17, 1920, in Trego, Mont., to Wilfred and Fern G. Curtis Deseve. His family was originally from Quebec, Canada, and immigrated to the United States. After his schooling he joined the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. After his discharge from the Army in 1946, he joined the U.S. Navy Reserves and was discharged from there in 1952.

He met Maxine Mayberry in Spokane, and the couple were married on Dec. 26, 1946, in Walla Walla. He spent the majority of his working life in the logging industry in Montana, Idaho and Oregon. He enjoyed fishing and visiting with friends over coffee at the Burger Hut. He was a 50-year and life member of BPOE #2146 and a member of the American Legion Post #24, both of Milton-Freewater.

He is survived by his wife at the home; two daughters, Kris Gibson of West Richland and Sandra Sheldon of Spokane; a son, Tim Deseve of Milton-Freewater; five grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Robb Bowen, and two brothers, Maurice and Lowell Deseve.
