Ann A. Lehman graduated summa cum laude in December with a bachelor of science in nursing from Washington State University. Nominated by teachers and peers, she also received the Outstanding Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing Student Award for fall semester.
Ann already has a two-year registered nursing degree and has worked full time for years at the Jonathan M. Wainwright Memorial Veterans Affairs Medical Center. It took her four years to earn this latest degree, which she did solely through online classes. Ann works in the VA's residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation ward.
This accomplishment is even more significant as Ann underwent emergency surgery followed by complications early in the decade. It caused short-term memory loss and other challenges, she said, and while recuperating, she had to stop her pursuit of the bachelor's degree for several years.
She is married to photographer Greg Lehman and is the daughter of Dr. Jerry and Gayle Hiner of College Place.
New Northwest Broadcasters radio station KKSR on Dec. 28 became 95.7 Fun FM. It has an oldies format featuring the motto "Tri-Cities' Greatest Hits." Etcetera appears in daily and Sunday editions. Annie Charnley Eveland can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 526-8313.
Anyone tuning in the past two months would have heard an all-Christmas format, said Kurt Luchs with NNB in Kennewick.
Kurt is vice president/general manager of the NNB six-station cluster of which 95.7 Fun FM is a part, explained the switch to oldies:
"In the beginning 95.7 used to be an oldies station, and quite a successful one.
"Since we left that format no other station has stepped in to fill the void, so we've decided to take it back.
"However, this is not an exercise in nostalgia. The music is from the sixties and seventies, and those are tunes almost everybody loves, but the content and attitude are all about today and what's going on in our community."
Morning air talent is Stacey Brooks, previously known to local listeners as the NNB traffic reporter. Shawna Solheim, one of the most popular voices on sister station KUJ Power 99.1 FM, has been promoted to Program Director of the relaunched 95.7 Fun FM.
