Garfield County commissioners are Dean Burton, Wynne McCabe and Robert Johnson. With all present Monday commissioners:

  • TRANSPORTATION PLAN: Discussed transportation improvement plan for 2010. Plans include purchasing right-of-way for Peola Road from the city limits to Mountain Road intersection. Construction will be completed in 2013. The other schedule project is replacing the Pataha Creek Bridge at Columbia Center.
  • MEETING: Decided not to meet during the week of Jan. 17 because of lack of quorum.
  • COURTHOUSE: Learned architect Rich Cardwell will be here Jan. 25 to discuss the county's grant, and to set up the items to be bid for the renovation. Commissioners accepted a $1 million grant from the state last week.
  • RENTAL RATES: Learned the school district has two rooms available for office space during courthouse renovation. Cost would be $500 for each classroom when school is in session, and $600 for each month during the summer.
