Orval James Rimbey


March 10, 1917 - December 24, 2009

Born March 10, 1917 in Rimbey, Alberta, Canada to Phinehas W and Vera Hand Rimbey. Orval was preceded in death by his first wife, Cloella MayBrown Rimbey, his parents and four brothers; Elvin, Harold, Albert and Morris.
Survivors include his wife Karen at their home in Walla Walla, his sister Alice Mae Swafford of Walla Walla, his
daughter Evangeline "Vangee" Harrison and son Sylvan Rimbey; 7 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and step children.

Orval came to the United Sates in the early twentiesand became a naturalized citizen of the USA. After brief stays in Puyallup, WA and Nampa, ID, his family settled in Walla Walla, WA where Orval attended Green Park School and in 1936 graduated from Walla Walla High School. Orval’s devotion to the Nazarene Church, where he was a member since 1927, was evident in the committees, missions, and his everyday life with his wife Cloella of 61 years. He was employed by the Shady Lawn Creamery where he made ice cream and hand decorated ice cream desserts. For many years Orval was also employed by Inland Motor Freight and subsequent owners of the freight line. He enjoyed growing roses and was an active member of the Rose Society.

Memorial Funeral Service will be held on Saturdayat Noon at the Amazing Grace Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Ron Alexander officiating. Donations may be given in Orval’s name to the charity of choice through Herring Grosclose Funeral Home at 315West Alder Street, Walla Walla, WA 99362.
