Grants available from state Trust for Historic Preservation

Grant applications for the Valerie Sivinski Washington Preserves Fund are being accepted by the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation.

Established in 1997, the program has awarded 62 projects totaling more than $51,000 in funding to historic preservation organizations and advocates engaged in preserving Washington's cultural heritage.

Priority is given to brick-and-mortar rehabilitation of historic resources, but eligible projects also include preservation planning, producing publications and materials to assist with advocacy efforts.

The deadline for submitting grant applications is Feb.16. Applications submitted via e-mail must be received by 5 p.m. that day. If a hard copy is mailed, it must be postmarked no later than Feb. 16. Application materials are available at For more information, contact Chris Moore at 206-624-9449 or
