REARDAN— Pomeroy wrestler Tye Knebel ran his victory streak to 13-0 for the season by pinning Wyatt Anderson of Reardan in the 160-pound weight class here Thursday.

Jacob Moore (135) and Scott Wolf (152) also recorded victories against Reardan for the Pirates in the five-team event that recorded no team scores.

"Our varsity wrestled Reardan, and we had wrestlers competing against other teams," Pomeroy coach Derek Shawley said. "Reardan has a very tough Class 2B program, especially in the upper weigh divisions, from 152 up.

"We saw a lot of state placers and state finalists there," Shawley said. "We had some good matchups, and some of them may take place again in the state finals in a few weeks."

Pomeroy’s Klyntin Bott (189) lost his first match of the season, a 5-3 double overtime decision to Reardan’s Chris Pence, and is now 13-1.

Bott, a senior, is the defending Washington Class 2B state champion at 189 pounds, and the still undefeated Knebel, a sophomore, won the state title last year at the 145-pound division.

The Pirates return to action today with a 3 p.m. start of a two-day tournament at Joseph.
