Mariners Caravan slated for Walla Walla stop on Wednesday

WALLA WALLA — The annual Seattle Mariners Caravan makes a stop Wednesday at Sherwood Center on the Whitman College campus.

The session, slated for 4:30 to 6 p.m., is open to the public and features complimentary autograph and photo opportunities.

The event features appearances by pitchers Doug Fister and Garrett Olson, along with broadcaster Dave Sims and the Mariner Moose.

The Caravan, which hit the road Monday with a stop in Wenatchee, will visit 20 Pacific Northwest communities between now and Jan. 29.

Fister, a 6-foot-8, 200-pound starter, made his Major League debut last August. He tossed 61 innings over the final two months of the season, posting a 3-4 record and 4.13 ERA. He turns 26 early next month.

Olson, a 26-year-old lefty, appeared in 31 games last season for the Mariners, starting 11 and posting a 3-5 record. He made his Major League debut with the Baltimore Orioles in July of 2007.
